Healing with the Sound of Sacred Text

Oct 9, 2015 | Sidi Our Spiritual Guide

beads-imageI had the honor and pleasure of catching up with my dear friend, Dr. David Abdul Latif Weinthal, yesterday. Abdul Latif is one of our UOS graduates who is doing amazing work in his private practice, incorporating teachings of Sufi healing into an already amazing protocol that combines his studies of Chinese Medicine, Kabbalah and numerous other trainings. Abdul Latif has been using the healing vibrations of the sounds of the sacred texts in conjunction with stimulating the flow of energies using acupuncture. He has been studying the wonders of the sounds and letters of the sacred languages and how they bring the higher vibrations into the body and create conditions for healing. He is bringing these teachings together from three different traditions! And I don’t have space in this newsletter to do justice to our conversation. (Look for an interview to be coming soon!) I love the synchronicity of the Universe. Sidi has been teaching specifically about Sound Healing using recitation of the Qur’an this summer. It must be time for us to have this conversation on a broader level. I want to share a few paragraphs from Sidi’s book, The Gift of Healing:

Today, alternative medicine has emerged as a respectable field. One recommended remedy in that field is called sound healing. Researchers had proven that the cells of the brain vibrate to a certain frequency, and that there is a program within each cell which regulates the vibration during its life span. This programming is affected by outer influences, such as emotional or social trauma. These conditions affect the program inside the cells and result in a variety of disturbances, which may cause physical and psychological illness and may lead to the malfunction of the whole body.

Sidi goes on to say…

There are scientists in the west who rely on healing through music, through its natural sounds and constant signals. The Noble Qur’an and known supplications add to this knowledge. As we know, sound is vibration which arrives at the ear, transfers to signals in the brain, and affects the cells vibration. When a patient listens to the Qur’an, its vibration positively affects the vibration of his cells which adjust them to their normal rate with which Allah created them. This is because the Qur’an is distinguished with a unique harmonious rhythm that does not exist in any other speech.

… and one more paragraph…

Therefore we can say that healing with the Qur’an is the best and the easiest way to return balance to harmed cells, for Allah (subhanahu wa-ta ‘ala) is the Creator of the cells and He is the One Who deposited accurate programs in them because He knows what is best for these cells. When the Guardian Protector (subhanahu wa-ta ‘ala) informs us that the Qur’an is a healing by saying, “And We sent down from the Qur’an that which is healing and mercy for the believers. And it only adds to the ruin of the oppressors [of themselves and others]” [Q17:82] this means that reciting the Qur’an has a sure effect of returning balance to the cells.

Honestly, I feel so blessed to learn from each person who brings their unique jewels to this work. Every conversation brings me into a deeper exploration of the miracles and wonders of creation, which go so far beyond what my mind is capable of imagining or expressing. As Abdul Latif said yesterday, “The more I learn, the more I realize I don’t know.” I couldn’t agree more, and I am so grateful to be on this journey. It’s a ride you have to experience to Love! If you are interested in taking this ride of exploration in Divine Love and its wonders and miracles, consider joining the new Year 1 class that is starting in November.
