Sufism is about awakening to God’s reality NOW vs. the hereafter. The focus is on the experience of God rather than the intellectual understanding of God. The only way to focus on the experience is through ‘tasting.’ Tasting is experiencing the Divine reality. It’s having an experience of that essential spirit, quality of God that is deep within the heart. This is a peace that says ‘everything feels right.’ There’s contentment, “okay-ness” and the peace is deeper; it isn’t dependent on outer circumstances. When one ‘tastes’ this peace and Divine reality, the whole nervous system relaxes.
