The University of Sufism—in partnership with Sufi Center Minnesota and award-winning composer Yuval Ron—would like to invite you to an exciting, first-of-its-kind online program: “Healing Sounds of the Wisdom Traditions.”
This program pairs cutting-edge scientific discoveries from the field of neuroscience with sacred teachings on sound and music to deliver the most impactful “healing sound” program available today.
The therapeutic effect that music has on the brain’s structure has become increasingly apparent as the medical community discovers what the ancient traditions have known for centuries—sacred sound, music, and practices have the power to alter the way the brain works, creating profound benefits to both physical and mental health.
Today, sound therapy is utilized as an effective treatment to increase motivation and coordination with Parkinson’s patients and to boost brain function in patients with Alzheimer’s. Studies have documented that music reduces the amount of pain medication that patients need, and hospitals are even using music as a way to decrease anxiety and modulate patients’ heart rate and blood pressure!
Sound therapy is being used by the world’s top hospitals, and for good reason—music is a powerful tool for health!
In this 13-week online program, Yuval Ron will give a fascinating and far-reaching perspective on how music impacts our brain and well-being. Yuval will share his experience and knowledge of healing sound and music practices from a number of wisdom traditions, expanding on the neurobiological as well as spiritual dimensions of each. Every class will include musical demonstrations, along with relevant theory and research.
The curriculum for “Healing Sounds of the Wisdom Traditions” utilizes a holistic approach to Sound Healing. By joining sacred music with devotional breath work, meditation, movement, and chanting, our aim is for students to receive the maximum benefit from each healing practice. Don’t miss your chance to learn about these profound teachings passed down through the centuries!
All students will receive recordings of each week’s class, giving further opportunity to practice and deeply benefit from the numerous healing musical demonstrations taught and shared in the program. These practices in sacred sound and music will elevate your personal healing—and have the potential to enhance and inform the modalities you use to help heal others.
All participants will receive a certificate of completion at the end of the series.
The first class is coming up on November 12—we would love for you to join us!
