The University of Spiritual Healing & Sufism is proud to offer a remote learning opportunity to study Arabic, at an entry level for beginners. Spend twelve weeks learning the Arabic letters, words, and getting their pronunciation and healing vibrations just right, with the guidance of native speaker Ahmed Manawy.
Recitation of the Qur’an can provide miraculous healing:
As we know, sound is vibration which arrives at the ear, transfers to signals in the brain, and affects the cells vibration. When a patient listens to the Qur’an, its vibration positively affects the vibration of his cells which adjust them to their normal rate with which Allah created them. This is because the Qur’an is distinguished with a unique harmonious rhythm that does not exist in any other speech.

Students will learn:
- Proper pronunciation for those ayats of the Qur’an that they have learned to use in healings.
- How to read and write Arabic letters, in preparing for reading and reciting the Qur’an.
- A working knowledge of how letters and words come together in Qur’anic Arabic.
Course overview:
Developed specifically for followers of Sidi in the Shadhiliyya tariqa, students of this course will learn to read, write and pronounce the Arabic that has been taught so far at USHS in healings, qualities, and the Qur’an class.
Many of the exercises and examples come from practicing how to connect the Arabic Alphabet (Adawt al-rab’t), with readings and writings from both modern and classical spiritual texts. Students will also explore specific topics in learning the Arabic alphabet through the beautiful names of Allah as well as Qur’anic ayats which are customarily used for healing. By reviewing and going into greater depth in the treatment of these topics, the course will provide students with greater understanding of how the language works and give you a solid foundation for further studies in Arabic.

None. This course is intended for beginner students of Arabic.

Brother Ahmed Manawy
, a native Arabic speaker, hails from Cairo, Egypt, where he spent the first half of his life. He started his Qur’anic studies at age 10, when he spent 4 years studying in Saudi Arabia. His studies included reading and writing Quranic Arabic, Tajweed Quranic recitation, and memorization of the Qur’an. He received his bachelors degree in Commerce from Ain Shams University in Cairo before emigrating to the United States.
For the past ten years he has been working as an accountant in LA. He carries a deep love and respect for the guidance and wisdom of the Qur’an, and is passionate about helping others to read the Qur’an. He has great himma to assist the sincere seeker to deepen their relationship with the Qur’an so that they can begin to read and recite Qur’an from the Arabic calligraphy, allowing the sounds to enter and transform the heart. He believes in a collaborative approach to learning, and has great patience with the beginning student.

Course Topics, Readings, and Expected Learning Outcomes
1 – The Arabic Alphabet
We will be introducing the Arabic Alphabet, and growing more familiar with the shapes, pronunciation, and positions of the Arabic letters in words. We will also explore the “Separated/Connected” aspect of the Arabic alphabet.
2 – The Arabic Vowels
Recognize and distinguish the difference between the Arabic Vowels and their positions in words, and learn to read and write the Arabic Vowels.
3 – Reading The Qur’an
Practice the pronunciation of the Qur’anic verses that have been given by Sheik Sidi Jamal, as well as gaining familiarity with reading some of the Surahs in Qur’an Introduction to Qur’an Recitation.
4 – The Beautiful Names Of ALLAH
Reading and Writing the Asma al-Husna in Arabic Pronunciation of Asma ALLAH al-Husna in Arabic Practice using Sidi’s Healing Duas with the 99 Names of ALLAH 5. There will also be opportunity to review topics or readings according to student demand.
