In the mid-1980s, Robert Ibrahim Jaffe, MD, was going blind. He visited every major allopathic and alternative health care facility in the country, all with the same result: there was nothing they could do. Dissatisfied, he returned home to Chicago, where he began an intense self-healing program, combining his knowledge of meditation, physical healing, emotional release, and energy healing. Three weeks later, after working day and night, he heard a loud POP in his right eye, his vision returned, and the School of Energy Mastery was born.
1991
Since its founding in 1991, the School of Energy Mastery (or EMS) has trained several thousand students in spiritual development and energy healing.
1994
Dr. Jaffe underwent another personal healing crisis. This time he faced heart disease. As he sought answers, he also found his own spiritual teacher in the process, a beloved Sufi master from Jerusalem, who teaches that all healing comes from the heart and returns one back to love.
2000
The School of Energy Mastery has now become The Jaffe Institute, an academy where open-hearted people come from all over the world to experience spiritual development, personal healing, professional training, and a deepening connection to the mystery of God’s love and healing.
2003
Sufi-based teachings focusing on four areas of study, Spiritual Healing and Counseling, Spiritual Healing Ministry, Parent and Family Healing, and Business and Organizational Healing, help to ground the intense three-year program, supporting The Jaffe Institute graduates as they take their heart-centered work out into the world.
2005
The Jaffe Institute became the University of Spiritual Healing & Sufism. Students have the option to earn a Certificate, Advanced Certificate or Masters Degree in Divinity. The Masters program offer four areas of specialty which include: Spiritual Healing & Counseling, Spiritual Ministry & Sufi Studies, Spiritual Peacemaking in the Sufi Way, and Spiritual Leadership in the Sufi Way. All degrees offered are based on the teachings, practices and principles of Sufism. Read more about the Masters program.
