The University of Spiritual Healing & Sufism is a non-profit religious organization that envisions a world where the flag of God’s love, peace, mercy, freedom, justice and beauty flies above every home.
Founded in 1990 as the School of Energy Mastery, founder Dr. Robert Ibrahim Jaffe, MD, began providing heart-centered energy healing instruction to thousands of students. In 2000, Dr. Jaffe formed The Jaffe Institute, a nonprofit church, and began teaching spiritual healing and transformation based on the teachings of Shadhiliyya Sufism as brought to our organization by Shaykh Muhammad Sa’id al-Jamal ar-Rafa’i ash-Shaduli, affectionately known to us as Sidi.
In 2005, The Jaffe Institute gained religious exemption status through the California Bureau for Private Postsecondary and Vocational Education, and became The University of Spiritual Healing & Sufism through the Religion of Unity in the Way of God – we call it The University of Spiritual Healing & Sufism or USHS for short. We now offer Masters degrees in Spiritual Ministry & Sufi Studies, Spiritual Peacemaking in the Sufi Way, Spiritual Leadership in the Sufi Way and in Spiritual Healing & Counseling. These degrees are grounded in the teachings of Shadhiliyya Sufism, helping our students to discover their personal missions and take the teachings into the world to live a life of service to others.

“The university opens its doors to all people who seek love, the truth, justice and freedom, regardless of their religion. Searching for truth through the way of God. Welcome for everyone who wants to learn how to carry the message of unity-of love, mercy, peace, freedom, justice and beauty.
We teach how to purify your self so that your heart can more fully reflect your true essence. In order to carry the message of unity one needs to embody the divine qualities of love, peace and kindness. Then we can achieve our goal of spreading the real mercy, the real love and the real compassion to all people regardless of their faith or color.
There is no requirement to be Sufi or Muslim in order to receive the certificates and degrees that we offer. We accept people of all religions because all people are holy; all people carry the divine qualities of Allah.
Sufism teaches people how to be happy in a deep and blessed way. This happens through a unique, divinely guided process of transformation that leads to understanding one’s essential unity with God and the entire creation. As is written, ” He who knows himself, knows his Lord.”
We teach people how to knock on the divine door of happiness and how to open that door and enter!!
You cannot heal yourself or others without the knowledge of the divine because Allah is the true healer. Thus our healing process relies on guidance from the Holy Books and deep Sufi knowledge. Once you heal yourself your heart will contain all of the divine qualities and then you will be a successful healer. Follow Allah in everything. From the Sufi perspective most suffering and most illnesses arise because we do not follow the orders of our Lord.”
Our Spiritual Path
Our healing practices are based on the 1500-year-old spiritual tradition of Sufism. The word “Sufi” literally means “wool”. The student of Sufism strives to be like the wool in the hands of God, living in complete trust of God and surrender to what God will make with him/her in any moment.
Sufis, mystics who serve God, have long been known as world servers, helpers, and healers. The Sufi message is one of peace, love, mercy, justice, and freedom for all the people of the world.
At The University of Spiritual Healing & Sufism, we understand that each of us holds tremendous potential in our hearts. We teach our students life-changing skills and spiritual practices in order to heal themselves and others through the light of divine love. Guided by our experienced faculty, you will gain tools that teach you how to guide others to cleanse their hearts quickly and effectively of fear, pain, anger, sadness, anxiety, and other draining emotions, leading to physical, emotional, and spiritual healing. Our faculty members are all followers of the Sufi Way.
