Whether through the Garden or the Fire…

In one week, we will be inaugurating a new president in the United States.  Regardless of where you stand on politics, we cannot deny that many people are quite anxious about the changes.

There are many unknowns.  It’s difficult to predict what will unfold and what we’ll be asked to navigate in the year ahead.

At the heart of most people, we want safety and security for ourselves and our families, and most want what is best for the world.  However, we can have drastically different opinions about what is needed to bring that about.

And only Allah, swta, knows for sure.

We are on a journey in physical bodies to learn the lessons Allah gives for us and to fulfill the purpose Allah designs for us.  Sometimes we walk through the garden, and sometimes through the fire.  This is in Allah’s wisdom.

We are not The Knower; Allah is Al-Alim.  We must be cautious to not fall into believing we know better than The One.  Yet, we are called to navigate the challenges Allah brings to us in a way that is straight, aligned with the teachings brought by the prophets and messengers of Allah.

All of us who are called to be healers, ministers, peacemakers and leaders need to be equipped to help those we are called to serve.  This is true for individuals, parents and community leaders as well.

To help with this, our beloved Dr. John Abd al-Qadr Davies, faculty of USHS Department of Peacemaking, is offering a webinar series called “Living Peace: Riding the Waves in Turbulent Times.”

Abd al-Qadr writes:

“We are blessed to live in ‘interesting times,’ beyond the sublime order of angelic existence, and to seek the gifts that are hidden in the apparent uncertainty and chaos that periodically threaten to overwhelm us.

This year’s federal election has blown away some comforting assumptions about where we stand, so this webinar series is a timely response to help us make sense of the challenges we face as a nation, an ummah, a community or family, and as all of humanity.”

You are invited to join us for this webinar.  Click here to learn more about it.

Partial scholarships are available.  If you need assistance, please email Maryam at customercare@sufiuniversity.org.

Sidi Shaykh Muhammad al-Jamal write in Path to Allah Most High:

“May Allah protect us from the arrogance of our nafs and the evils of our nafs by His mercy; for surely He is the Most Merciful of those who show mercy and the Noblest of the noble.”

May Allah bless you and your loved ones, keep you safe and near to Him.

With love and gratitude,

Mastura Graugnard on behalf of all your friends and family at USHS
